Ich liebe Deutschland, arrr!

The obsession with pirates is quite strange. "I'm a pirate; arrr!" and so on. Pirates were not nice people! They weren't lovable rascals, they were dangerous disease ridden nasty vile men (smelly too!) It made me think, would Hitler be seen in a better light if he were a pirate, swashbuckling his way across eastern europe. In 300 years time are we going to have people dressing up as scum bags in tracksuits sporting a hypodermic syringe uttering "I'm a junkie, giv'us your money or I'll jab ya! arrr!".

You can't blame Johnny Depp either, or even Kevin Kline in The Pirates of Penzance, (which was far superior to that Pirates of the Caribbean rubbish!) Pirates have been a favorite of people for a long time. Getting back to The Pirates of the Caribbean though, Johnny Depp needs to get more credit for roles other than Jack Sparrow, which left me cold and unamused. Whats the big deal with his performance of Jack Sparrow? Great, a drunk pirate! When is he going to play Freddie Mercury thats what I want to know!
