DOSBox's Emulated FM Synthasis

I've given the FM playback with DOSBox a lash. For those not in the know, DOSBox is a DOS emulator which makes older PC games run more correctly and authentically under Windows XP etc. That includes a virtual SB16 emulator with the FM synthesis chip enabled. I managed to find a nice little DOS MIDI player too by Russian programmer Denis Andrianov, its called "Midier", and thats what you see running in the video. The three midi files being played in the clip are by ELP.

As you can hear for yourself, it certainly has a FM feel to the sound but its not quite right. Theres some definite playback problems too (missing notes etc.) but DOSBox as an application though is super. The video was created using its own video capture feature. While it's streamlined and effecient, complex procedures do cause it to slow down (perhaps there are settings I need to adjust). You can see such a slowdown in the following video I made while running Adlib Tracker II. It starts a bit sketchy but gets better:
