Exile: The Best Game I Never Played
I was reading Donncha's post about Xenon 2 when it got me thinking about the games I used to have for my Amiga. Then I remembered the game I never ending up getting but regarded as one of the greatest ever made.
I had a demo of it from a coverdisk (AmigaPower Magazine most likely) and I played it over and over. There was something just magical about it. The gameplay was great, the mystery of story so intriguing, the robotic ostrich things, the pooping parrots, the intergalactic space monkeys... Check it out its all in the video.
Exile originally came out on the BBC Micro, but it quickly spread to other systems, including the Commodore Amiga. I did get a chance to play the BBC version once but not for very long.
Theres a few options at playing the game nowadays. You can play the original game versions on a PC using an emulator. You can try a few of the conversions like ExileGL. Or new games based on it like Exile: The Nameless Remake, but nothing comes close to playing it on real original hardware.
