Due to a sudden influx in anonymous spammy comments (109 overnight), I am disabling anonymous commenting. It annoys me because I like letting anonymous people have their say, good or bad.
Yesterday, I disabled commenting on three posts that always picked up the odd spam comment every now and again. Then today I get comments on over a hundred of my posts. I guess someone got pissed off. Word verification was on too.

I noticed the same thing myself. On popular posts in my blog, they invariable got found by spidering bots and spammed.
Rather discouraging that they are able to beat the word verification as well :(
