It has to be said, I love Eddie Murphy, so all reviews of his films by me will be biased, but people really need to lighten up about childrens movies. Personally I think Shrek is the greatest piece of shite ever made, but its a kids movie, so thats ok. Meet Dave is another film for the family.... so obviously its stupid as hell, with annoying fart jokes and an ott stereotyped gay character, but you either tolerate it or you don't. There's no point going onto the imdb pleading with Murphy to retire just because you didn't like the movie. For me, if its got Eddie Murphy in it, so that makes up for all failings. [I haven't seen Pluto Nash so I can't comment on that one. Norbit was fucking excellent though].
Gabrielle Union plays a character called "No.3". Another plus to the film.
There's a line of dialog where No. 3 develops a bout of jealousy over Dave's interactions with the main female character "Gina" (Elizabeth Banks). She comments that "Gina's butt is the size of their moon" (in the pejorative sense). We later get a side on view of No. 3. Damn, thats a lot space-junk she's got going on there herself... "Mr. Crusher, intercept course at maximum warp... engage!"
So whats the movie about... emm.. some space thing comes to earth looking for stuff or something... look its got Eddie Murphy and Gabrielle Union, what more do you need to know.
