Large Hadron Collider - Song
I promised I'd have this ready by the weekend and here it is (in some shape or fashion at least). As I mentioned, I was listening to Victor Barry discussing the Large Hadron Collider on the radio, when I opened up Reason and started playing around with the CV outputs from a Matrix module. I got this nice blippy boppy thing (that you hear at the start). I decided to take it in a disco direction (because if the LHC were a dance surely it would be disco!).
I like the break in the middle (I used my favorite chord progression), it's a kind of refrain or chorus thing. It's got an old 80's vibe to it. I was going to expand the melody, and I may do in the future, but at the moment I think it works best the way it is, coming in just at the last two phrases. I'm real happy with the bass line too (I used a combinator patch FailedMuso sent me on a CD a while back).
Large Hadron Collider.mp3 [256kbps - 5MB]
Well worth downloading the mp3 from above if you like it, the sound on vimeo videos doesn't seem to be as good as before.

I like it. It has a kind of Gentle Giant/In a Glass House intro.
Mine needs more violin though :p Thanks! :)
Yup, it's a goodie :o)
The break sounds very Daft Punk-esque (which is a good thing in my book)
Cheers! I was going to mention that I thought it sounded a bit like Daft Punk myself. I was even going to trim the edge off the hi-hats to give it that dated "tape" sound, which would have made it sound even more like Daft Punk or Justice, but I decided to keep it crispy instead :)
