There's a few versions of the Brian Cowen / "Brian Clowen" parody out there already, and it would be far too easy to be, once again, inspired by Tim Curry's demonic version of Pennywise in Stephen King's "IT", or a Ritchie Kavanagh styled "Aon Focail Eile... get up here child and I'll ride ya, after I ate this mutton chop" perversion. I instead went for a different angle, a less brutal but no less cutting affair. I wanted you to feel sorry for Brian Cowen. I wanted a clown-tragedy, a character perhaps not out of place in Leoncavallo's opera, "Pagliacci". Gone is the venom and the stinging personal insults, what we are left with, is a mere child-like Brian, looking lost and simple, with a bag of money by his foot. Our country is failing, not because of personal malice but because of political ineptitude.
Don't forget, the back of loot is getting smaller by the way.
