Oh God, Just When You Thought It Was Over

"The BBC says it is investigating claims that a member of University Challenge's winning team broke the rules because he was no longer a student.

Corpus Christi College, Oxford, led by Gail Trimble, stormed to victory over the University of Manchester on the BBC TV quiz last week. Price Waterhouse Coopers has confirmed it employed team member Sam Kay as a graduate accountant last year.
In a statement the Manchester team said they had "no desire" for a rematch."

  1. That would make sense really. I always forget that the teams aren't always the same. I'm inclined to believe the BBC site though, seeing as they do broadcast the show.

  3. I'm beginning to think the BBC really wanted to boost the profile of University Challenge this year and planned the whole thing lol

  4. Well looks like you were right Mr. Shape Man. Funny thing is, just yesterday on Christina's blog, I suggested that disqualification in this situation would be the fairest thing to do, not ever thinking they would go ahead with such a procedure.

Well it's all a bit sad really. No winners in this situation. Well obviously Manchester are the winners but with a "win by default" I doubt anyone will feel brilliant about it.
