Ayrton Senna: 1960 - 1994

Ayrton Senna, Brazilian F1 driver who lost his life 15 years ago today while racing at the Imola track in San Marino. I had wanted to mark this day with a special post but I got lazy. Since January I had planned to put up a few pictures of all the newspapers and stuff I saved from the weekend, including the cover of the Autosport magazine before the race, which had the unfortunate headline "Can Senna Take the Pressure?"

I'm not one to say "oh that was 'real' F1 back then and there's too much technology these days", but watching how much a driver had to fight with the car was exciting. Plus whats killed off F1 these days are all the fucking FIA rules and restrictions.

And don't forget the Austrian driver, Roland Ratzenberger who also lost his life at Imola that race weekend. JJ Lato's car burst into flames on the starting grid as well (just something I remember from watching the race 15 years ago).
