In 2005 Nokia released the n770 Internet Tablet, a touch screen device which ran a Maemo operating system, based on Debian Linux. It officially supported [Macromedia's] Flash version 6, but thanks to the O/S being open-source, people managed to wrangle version 9 onto it. As you'd expect from any open-source O/S (and most propirety O/S's actually) you could write your own applications for the device. I myself wrote and ran Python scripts on it and downloaded many third party applications for free. It eventually sold for €100. For all it's faults, it was still a versatile little unit that had a easily replaceable battery.

Five years later in 2010, Apple release the iPad internet tablet. It's based on a propriety operating system, where you must download all applications from their iTunes harem. It has no support for Flash whatsoever [although Adobe say a convoluted hobbled version may be on the way]. Coming in at $500 ~ $800, the iPad boasts multitouch, a larger screen... emmm... copy and paste? Oh wait, that's probably a major update for a future version of the iPad.
So wow anyway, the iPad is loaded with techno advancementz!
LOLZ U IS JUST A HATER U CANT STAND ALLS US APPLE USERS IS FITA AND SMARTA DAN U. TALK TO D FACE U LOOSER
ReplyDeleteMy greatest complaint about the iPad is its size: how ever will I get that up my anus; the iPhone was a struggle as it was. The iPod Shuffle still has the title of "shapeliest rectal ghetto-blaster", in my bowels... er.. book anyway.
