Short answer: don't be silly. Ok so, could it provide roughly the same computing power of a single human brain then? Not a chance. Jeremy over at 4Volt (I say it so casually as if we've been buddies for years; he doesn't even knew I exist!) has done the math for us and come up with the megabytes.
http://4volt.com:8080/Blog/archive/2010/01/18/total-processing-power-of-the-internet.aspx
For those of you with ADD, the end result is this: Estimating the total number of connected nodes to the internet (based on public statistics), the entire internet (1.7 Billion computers) has as much computing power as 1/200th of a human brain. Put that up your bum and squeeze it! And there you were, thinking you were crap. No way dawg, you've got like 200 interwebz in your head! Just think of how much sauce that is! 200 Boxxys to torment or pleasure you! I tell you sir, the brain is an amazing lump of tissue.
How did you get that picture of me?
ReplyDeleteLol @ picture!
ReplyDeleteThe Shape: Now now, don't be mean about yourself.
ReplyDeleteHydlide: thanks :) I'm sure there's a funnier way to integrate the two images though; I just threw it together quickly for the post.
Hey, it's me Jeremy, commenting like your an old friend.
ReplyDeleteI know you saw it good buddy, but for your readers, I miscalculated by a factor of 10. You only have 20 Internets in your brain. (Kinda)
Welcome, old friend! :)
ReplyDelete"Kinda" is good enough for me. So is 20.
20 is an easier multiple of LOLCat websites to imagine tucked up under the head-scalp.
