Joe Duffy On Road Safety
December 24th, the middle of Ireland's "Big Freeze", when most of Ireland suffered the worst driving conditions of the year, Joe Duffy retorted AA Road Watch's warnings which told people to drive carefully on the roads. He can be heard on Morning Ireland telling the AA to "take a chill pill" and "relax in your slacks".
I was going to say I found his response surprising, especially considering his old long-time boss, Gay Byrne, is now the head of Road Safety in Ireland, but nothing much that Duffy does these days surprises me. No doubt if the AA had told listeners to beware of Head shops and magic-mushrooms growing on the side of the road he would have been foaming at the mouth repeating ad-nauseum warnings about "da dangers of them bath salts".
I must go into my local Head Shop on Monday and ask them if they have any "chill pills". I'll say I heard Joe Duffy raving about them on the radio.
