And there is another reason we are in the soup in this country. Great chance to remove that plank and get in someone who will pull votes. Typical of politicans, too far removed from reality to know that the man on the street wont vote for a party when they are led by a mono sylibic turnip. Anyway there goes my vote!!
But who's left to vote for? The fools who voted Green show that no vote is safe from the Fianna Fail amalgamation machine. The only thing you could say about Fine Gael before was that they would never go into power with Fianna Fail, but now voting Fine Gael seems like going from the frying pan into the fire. I think it's time to start voting with the shotgun!
OK, everyone thinks Im nuts anway so Ill say it. This country needs a real right wing Government, one that will horse out the sponging immigrants, not all I know, but many. One that will have prisons built so that criminals will do serious time, one that will cancel social welfare for all cept those gainfully employed in the previous 5 years, one that will execute murderers and sex offenders, one that will imprison corrupt politicians without trial, one that will intern gang land members without trial, one that will remove government links between judiciary and law officials so as to remove corruption. There are many more ways of improving our society but unfortunately we live in the land of arse lickers and back stabbers and cronies! Im not a facist but sometimes certain problems call for devisive actions. It not going to happen though, not in the land that took 800 years to remove foreign influence mainly due to infighting!
First of all, you should be blogging this crazy shit of yours. We could come up with a good name for you: "Baton Charge!" or something.
While it does seem we are slowly drifting into a quagmire of apathy and PC, it's been proven time and again over the years that extreme governing doesn't work. It didn't work for the Germans, it didn't work for the Russians and it's not working for the Chinese. That said, all three are very powerful countries now, and are run well to varying degrees.
Power corrupts, that's the nub of it. Most people envision nightmare futures involving us being ruled by machines, cold and empathetic. But I think it would be far easier to program a governing machine with fuzzy logic empathy, than make a non-corruptible human politician. Just thought I'd throw in a bit of sci-fi there.
We're in a shit time generally. We are trying to throw off the shame generated by past events, like the cruelty involved with the Holocaust, while at the same time trying to come up with effective non-violent ideas for dealing with the problems of the present. We can see the alternative to violence, but we are still in violent times. Dealing with crime is a tough one. The death penalty doesn't put people off killing each other, but at the same time, how humane is locking someone up in a cell for 60 years? There are black and white cases where an offender is guilty of murder most grotesque; take the recent screw driver murder case of the two Polish men. Those involved will never see the light of day again. What is the point of letting them rot in a cell for the rest of their life? Very difficult questions to answer. What is the intrinsic worth of a person? Do we only value a person on what they can give to society, or by how little do they harm it? Very difficult questions...
