Looks like I wasn't the only one to be disappointed by the cancellation of todays Downhill race in Bansko, Bulgaria. Anja Pärson also got a little upset on Twitter [link], and the Swedish newspaper, expression.se [link] picked up on it. The line translates as: "I'm so fucking God-damn fucking sick." And now aftonbladet.se [link] has picked up on it too! Must be a slow news day in Sweden.
I too, was annoyed at the cancellation. I woke up early this morning to watch it, after only getting a few hours sleep (I was awake, busy trying to find ways of downloading stuff I shouldn't be able to download [innocent science experiment, your Honor]) and was greeted with a delay notice. Hours passed until they finally called it off. This is typical of my experience with Alpine Skiing: If I had stayed in bed, dreaming of pulling my plunker, they'd probably have put on 12 races altogether. They'd be skiing up the hill and all. They'd probably have put on a mini Olympics, and all because I had chosen not to wake up.
Anyway, fingers crossed that there's less wind for tomorrow's SuperG.
I thought Mueller and Korkalouskov put in some good skis, but at the end of the day, skiing is a game of two halves and I felt that Fritz Murkelheim put in more of a solid effort in going on the offense without letting his grip loosen on a successful defense. Critcs seem to be divided on whether the new lease of life for Tarovich is down to his new coach or the extreme diet of milk and blueberries
